Broadcast #005: Matvey Levenstein / Ajay Kurian; Pierre et Gilles in NYC & September's *bonus* Angel-of-the-Month!
This is your friendly little reminder that Angelic Transmissions #005 broadcasts live today 12-2pm EST via East Village Radio.
The first guest is painter Matvey Levenstein discussing his exhibition “Zone” currently on view at Kasmin gallery in Chelsea, followed by sculptor Ajay Kurian, talking about his exhibition “Peanuts” on view at Von Ammon Co in DC, as well as his experimental pedagogical platform, New Crits. In between we will be joined by Leigha Mason to gossip about Jean Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast (1946) playing around the corner at Anthology Film Archives.
Last year I was lucky enough to visit two of my queer heroes in Paris, the incredible Pierre et Gilles, which I wrote about for the current issue of Blau International. To celebrate I’m doing a conversation with Pierre et Gilles in a rare NYC appearance on Friday September 27th, 6pm, at Templon gallery (293 10th Avenue). COME! TELL YOUR FRIENDS! RSVP: newyork@templon.com
HEADS UP! The book I edited of Dave Hickey’s essays, Feint of Heart: Art Writing, 1982-2002, will officially launch on October 8th, 6pm, at David Zwirner 525 West 19th St., in an event with the legendary artist and musician (and longtime friend of Dave’s) Terry Allen, as well as his biographer Brendan Greaves.

I would love to see you as we plunge into a new art season in our fair city.
And now, I’m pleased to announce a special *bonus* Angel-of-the Month for September 2024:
