Say Yes To Heaven
Announcing ANGELIC BOOTLEGS, new interviews & reviews, and December’s Angel-of-the-Month
One of my great frustrations with museums big and small, from cosmopolitan behemoths to backwoods curiosities, is shitty, ugly, and boring merchandise (I’m looking at you Aluminum Christmas Tree Museum in Brevard North Carolina!) Is it too much to ask: I want a wide selection of quality postcards! I want cool t-shirts from obscure locales! (Shouldn’t I have all of this and passionate kisses, wait, that’s Lucinda Williams…) After years of being more disappointed than not I’ve decided to make some of the bootleg merch I’d like to see in the world. We’re talking high concept, low production, and a lot of heart.
For the inaugural ANGELIC BOOTLEG, artist and ritual magician Laurel Sparks has developed a sequence of her signature technicolor drawings that interpret the numerology of calendar year 2024, organized by 12 moon cycles. In lieu of the Gregorian months, Sparks' calendar is organized by the titles of a year's worth of moons—Wolf, Snow, Worm, Pink, Flower, Strawberry, Buck, Sturgeon, Harvest, Hunters, Beaver, Cold—tracking the number of days in each moon phase.
This exquisite, witchy wall calendar of Sparks' calendrical chromatic workings will keep you in sync with the most ancient timekeeper, the moon, and offer powerful blessings all year long.
